The Cost of Commercial Wind Turbines
The initial costs of purchasing a commercial wind turbine can be daunting but they will more than pay off in the long term, and even in the not so distant short term. Hence, if you have a large business or project that you want to "go green" with, commercial wind turbines are indeed the way to go.
When making an investment in commercial wind turbines you will have to factor in the costs for insurance, legal and consultation fees, wind resource assessments, site analysis, freight fees, tower construction fees, utility systems upgrades, metering equipment, transformers, maintenance, etc. Don't forget to consider the size of your project, taxes and financing fees.
Generally, the costs of commercial wind turbines range between $1- $2 million per MW of capacity of the nameplate installed. Turbines of 2 MW in size will cost approximately $2.8 million, for example. Of course a small farm or residential turbine will initially cost less but when per kilowatt of energy producing capacity is applied on the rates, it ends up being more expensive in the long term. A 10 kilowatt machine might cost around $128,000 and a 100 kilowatt commercial wind turbine would come to about $5,800 - $7,800 per kilowatt of capacity.
In this way you can see that some mathematics and proper negotiations need to be employed when searching for a suitable commercial wind turbine for your project or business.
By taking a little time to do your research, you should be able to come away with a good deal and be well on your way to contributing to the well being of the planet.
Most, if not all, of your needed information can be found online and the long term benefits, for you, your project and your environment, are well worth the effort!
