Magnet Generator

In today's world, we are more dependent on electrical energy than ever before. From refrigerators to computers, we need electricity 24/7. However, even in today's technologically advanced age, we are faced with blackouts. Remember the blackout that took USA by storm in 2003, affecting over 60 million citizens? Well, that was the largest blackout in the history of the United States.

You see, if you are hooked up to and dependent upon "the grid" for your power source, you cannot be guaranteed power 24/7 under all circumstances. In order to get that kind of security, more and more people are opting to install their own energy sources on their personal property, in the form of electrical generators.

A generator is a device which uses a magnet in order to induce an electrical current in a circuit. For this reason electrical generators are more accurately termed "magnet generators".

A magnet generator functions due to the relation between magnetism and electricity. When electrons move through something conductive like a wire, a magnetic field is generated. On the other hand, if a magnetic field is placed near a wire and is moved, its motion will cause the electrons in the wire to also move due to a change in electrical potential. That process is called a "current".

This entire process was discovered by Michael Faraday in the 1830s. Mr. Faraday built the very first electromagnetic generator, known as the Faraday disc.

The first magnet generators were used in industries and later provided electrical energy to homes. In the past few years a proliferation of engine-generator sets known as "gensets" have become popular and are used for a wide variety of purposes. Among them are diesel generators, gasoline generators, propane generators and liquefied petroleum gas generators. And, of course, there are even human-powered generators, such as those found in some types of radios and bicycle lights.

If you want to decrease or eliminate your dependency on "the grid", there can be no better way to do so than with a magnet generator.
