Hybrid System
In the past, those opting to power their homes or businesses naturally did so with either a wind power generator, or a solar power generator. Nowadays, many are opting to combine the two for a superior green power experience. Why superior, you might ask? Well, you can get more kW production per dollar investment with a hybrid system.
From a technical viewpoint, a hybrid system exhibits both continuous and discrete dynamic behavior, in other words, a system that can both flow and jump. A hybrid system is one that encompasses a larger class of systems within its structure, allowing for more flexibility.
A hybrid system of energy conversion is ideal for Midwestern and plains states due to the fact that both sun and wind are plentiful in these regions, but at varying times, so that they play off of each other and supply you with a constant source of energy.
For example, during the summer, the winds are low to nil but sunlight is abundant. Conversely, during the winter when little sun is available, wind force is at its peak. During the nights, the winds blow softly and die down at daybreak.
The wind and sun work in perfect unison to bring about a consistent source of naturally generated power. In a hybrid system, a 3kW wind turbine combined with a 4kW solar system will provide you with much more energy than just a 10kW wind turbine on its own, or a 10kW exclusive solar system. The result is more energy with less spending.
In addition, the need for battery backup becomes less of a concern. Whether you reside in a rural, residential, or urban area, you can permanently remove yourself from the grid using a hybrid energy system.
