Why a hybrid system? (wind + solar)

Because it is a wonderful way to get more kW production per $ investment. In the midwest and plains states, the majority of your sunlight is in the summer months, when the wind doesn't blow. The flip side of that is during the winter when you get very little sun, the wind is blowing the strongest.

You can even see the results on a daily basis, at night the wind blows in the morning the sun comes out and the wind dies down.

To give you an idea of how well they work together, a 4kW solar system with a 3 kW wind turbine will provide a lot more energy than just a 10 kW wind turbine or a 10 kW solar system. You spend less but you get more.

Off the grid?
